D Day. August 21, 2017 03:54 am. Lobby of Super 8. The smoke from the neighboring beet factory stunk! It was an omen of difficulties ahead.

05:43 August 21 2017, Heading north into Nebraska towards eclipse totality. Fog. Les and Roxy's truck broke down on I-90, 10 minutes into trip. Andy and Aidan went back to pick them up. And fog! Of all days. Not a good start.

Daybreak. Still foggy.

August 21, 2017. 07:01 am. Our caravan of vehicles was separated due the unforeseen truck breakdown. Some of us met here at The Trading Post gas station/convenience store in the tiny town of Bridgeport Nebraska. The Trading Post never had a run on gas, breakfast burritos and bathrooms quite like this morning. Still foggy.

August 21, 2017, 08:27 am. Gas station on outskirts of Torrington Wyoming. Fog lifted! Now just waiting for Andy, Aidan, Les and Roxy to catch up to us. (phone selfie).

August 21, 2017 09:54 am. Hwy 85, just north of Lingle Wyoming. No more fog and not a cloud in the sky! Perfect for eclipse viewing. Glad we had scientists on the team, mapping out our path. Nearly missed start of eclipse due to HEAVY traffic jam in Torrington Wyoming. Guess no one told them 10k vehicles were going to inundate their small town today. Whew.

August 21, 2017, 10:03 am. Exact point of totality in the middle of Wyoming! Made it to this roadside spot with 10 minutes to spare before start of eclipse. Setting up gear. More traffic along this little road than these ranchers have likely ever seen.
